O-PAS certification tracker What is certified, and what still has to be tested

A dated record of products found in The Open Group O-PAS™ Certification Register, the profiles named in their public evidence, and the work an owner or EPC still has to close at the system and project levels.

An O-PAS certification claim is only useful when it names the supplier, exact product, version or configuration, applicable O-PAS edition, certified profiles and current register record.

The certification establishes conformance within that scope. It does not by itself prove that a group of selected products will interoperate in the project architecture, or that the delivered system satisfies the owner's functional, performance, security and recovery requirements.

What the record supports: a procurement team can cite this exact product and the two named profiles as certification evidence, subject to confirming the current register record and the offered product configuration at bid time.

What it does not settle: application execution, communications with every selected component, project-specific cybersecurity, performance under the required load, failover, recovery, maintainability or complete system acceptance.

02 · Scope

O-PAS certification is profile-based

The O-PAS Standard covers multiple parts of an open process automation architecture. The certification programme organizes conformance around defined profiles. A product can therefore be certified for named capabilities without being certified for every function in the standard.

Exact identity

Confirm the manufacturer, model, hardware option, software or firmware release and any conditions attached to the certified configuration.

Profile

Exact scope

Name the profile identifiers and descriptions. “O-PAS certified” without the applicable profile scope is incomplete procurement evidence.

Status

Current record

Verify the product in the official register when bids are evaluated and again before release for manufacture or purchase.

The specification rule

Do not write “all products shall be O-PAS compliant” and leave the bidder to infer the scope. Map each product class to the applicable profiles, acceptable evidence, required versions and any project tests that certification does not close.

03 · Assurance model

Keep three bodies of evidence separate

Each layer answers a different question. A sound project uses all three and states which party owns each one.

Product conformance

Does this product meet the named profile requirements?

Use the current official certification record, conformance statement and exact product identification. This is evidence about a bounded product scope.

System interoperability

Do the selected products work together in this architecture?

Test the actual versions, configurations, information exchanges, timing, identity, failure behavior and recovery paths at the project's component boundaries.

Project acceptance

Does the delivered system satisfy the contract and operating need?

Verify control functions, alarms, sequences, performance, cybersecurity, resilience, maintainability, documentation and handover through FAT, SAT and commissioning.

04 · Bid review

Seven checks before accepting a certification claim

The evidence should be reviewable by an estimator, engineer and commercial lead without relying on a supplier's general product-family statement.

Put the evidence in the bid basis

For each required profile, name the responsible supplier, the document that closes conformance, the project test that closes interoperability, and the party that pays for correction and retest if the boundary fails.

Related evidence can be valuable without being the same claim

Several statements sound similar in a proposal. They should not be scored as interchangeable.

Example: Yokogawa reported OPC Foundation certification for release 1.02.10 of its Open Automation SI Kit against the OPC UA client/server communication profile used by O-PAS. That is relevant profile evidence. It should still be described by its exact issuing body and scope rather than automatically represented as the same thing as a current product entry in The Open Group register.

Frequently asked questions

How many O-PAS certified products are listed?

When this tracker was checked on 17 September 2026, one identifiable product record was found in The Open Group O-PAS Certification Register: the ASRock Industrial iEP-5010G-010. Always check the official register for the current count and status.

Does certification apply to the whole O-PAS Standard?

Not automatically. The programme is profile-based. Procurement evidence should identify the exact certified profiles, product and applicable version or configuration.

Does an O-PAS certified product guarantee interoperability?

No. Certification provides conformance evidence for a defined product scope. The project must still test the selected products together in the intended architecture, versions, configuration, loading and failure conditions.

Can a project require products that are not yet certified?

Yes, but the specification should state the acceptable alternative evidence, the verification work the project must perform, who owns that work, and the commercial consequences if the product does not meet the allocated requirements.

How should an EPC price certification and interoperability work?

Separate document review, profile-gap analysis, integration-environment work, boundary testing, correction cycles and retesting. Assign each activity and cost to a named party before the bid basis is frozen.
