About Collaborative Systems Integration
Pioneering Open Process Automation
Founded by the architects of the Open Process Automation initiative, CSI brings unmatched expertise to industrial automation.
Our Mission
Our Mission
CSI exists to accelerate the adoption of open, standards-based process automation. We believe owner-operators deserve control over their automation infrastructure — freedom to choose best-of-breed components, ability to upgrade on their own timeline, and security of standards-based architecture.
We don't just advise on OPA — we build it. Our team has designed, commissioned, and supported open automation systems in refining, chemicals, power, and pharmaceutical environments.
Our Values
What drives every engagement
Open Standards First
Every solution is grounded in published, vendor-neutral standards.
Owner-Operator Advocacy
We work for you, not for vendors. Your interests drive every recommendation.
Engineering Rigor
Mission-critical systems demand precision. Decades of field experience in every engagement.

Leadership
Our Team
Don served as elected Co-Chair of The Open Process Automation Forum from 2016 to 2023 — through the years the O-PAS Standard was defined — and before founding CSI was Chief Engineer of Process Control at ExxonMobil, the operator that launched the Open Process Automation initiative. Across 33 years in process control he has been a primary architect of open automation and a pioneer of real-time AI predictive control. Few people have shaped the standard CSI builds on more directly.
John leads CSI's delivery of the open, edge computing platforms that make multi-vendor process control real — the technical foundation an open architecture depends on. He brings over 25 years in technology, including senior leadership roles at Intel and Stratus Technologies, and holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering from Columbia University. His work translates the O-PAS architecture into systems that run in production.
Trevor served as a Co-Chair of the Open Process Automation Forum for six years and leads marketing and outreach within the Forum's Business Working Group — work that keeps CSI close to where the standard is going. He brings over 47 years in process manufacturing and business performance improvement, including the role of Vice President of Business Value Consulting at Invensys, and is known for delivering step-change gains in plant profitability and efficiency.
Steve spent 39 years at ExxonMobil across Refining, Engineering, and Research, in exactly the disciplines an open architecture has to deliver — process control, real-time optimization, and process analytics. That depth in advanced control applications is what he leads at CSI. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware, an MS in Computer Science from Drexel, and an MBA in Finance from George Mason University.
