Effective date: June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Collaborative Systems Integration ("CSI," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit csi-automation.com (the "Site") or otherwise interact with us. We are an industrial automation system integration firm headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, and our Site is intended for a business audience.
By using the Site or submitting information to us, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or submit information to us.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
We collect personal information that you choose to give us, primarily through our contact forms, our flagship report request form, and other email-gated resources. Depending on the form, this may include:
- Your first and last name
- Your business email address
- Your phone number
- Your company name and job title
- Information about your role, industry, and stage in evaluating Open Process Automation
- The contents of any message, project description, or inquiry you send us
1.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, certain information may be collected automatically by us or our service providers, including your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring pages, and the dates and times of your visits. This information is used to operate, secure, and improve the Site. See Section 4 for the specific third-party services involved.
1.3 Information from third parties
We do not purchase personal information about you from data brokers. We may receive limited business contact information from referrals, event registrations, or publicly available professional sources, which we use to respond to or follow up on legitimate business inquiries.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect for the following business purposes:
- To respond to your inquiries and provide the information, assessments, or resources you request
- To deliver gated content, such as our flagship State of OPA report
- To communicate with you about our services, engagements, and relevant industry updates
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and our services
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or misuse
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information (for example, under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation), we rely on one or more of the following: your consent; the performance of, or steps taken at your request prior to entering, a contract; our legitimate interests in operating and growing a business-to-business enterprise; and compliance with our legal obligations.
4. Cookies and Third-Party Services
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for two purposes: keeping interactive features working as you move through the Site, and recognizing returning visitors so we can attribute newsletter signups to the page that referred them. The Site does not use Google Analytics, Plausible, Meta Pixel, or any advertising-network tracking. The Site does not sell or share cookie-derived data with third parties for marketing purposes.
The third-party services that set cookies on the Site are listed below. Each is functional or analytics-adjacent rather than advertising, and each is loaded only on pages where its feature is used.
- Botpress — powers the chat widget at the bottom of the Site. Cookies remember your conversation state so you can navigate between pages without losing the thread of a chat, and so a returning visitor sees prior messages.
- Beehiiv (subscribe form) — powers the State of OPA newsletter signup forms. Cookies remember whether you have already submitted a subscription, so the form does not ask you again on subsequent visits.
- Beehiiv (attribution) — records which page of the Site referred you to a newsletter signup, so we can understand which content drives interest in State of OPA. This is loaded sitewide and sets a first-party cookie.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies set by Botpress or Beehiiv will not prevent you from using the Site, but the chat widget and newsletter forms may not function correctly.
If we add other third-party services that set cookies in the future, we will update this section.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal information only in the limited circumstances described below:
- Service providers. We use trusted third-party vendors to host the Site, deliver email, manage forms, and support our operations. These providers may process personal information on our behalf and are permitted to use it only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of CSI, our clients, or others.
- Business transfers. If CSI is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the protections of this policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including responding to your inquiries, maintaining business relationships, and meeting legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.
7. Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of the information we hold about you, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing.
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), California residents may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, request deletion of personal information, and exercise these rights without discriminatory treatment. We do not sell personal information.
EU/UK residents. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [INSERT PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL]. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for business professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites and resources, including opacommunity.com and other external pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
11. International Visitors
CSI is based in the United States, and the Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
