What This Checklist Covers
Most MPC applications underperform not because the technology is wrong but because one of five areas was not properly addressed at commissioning or has drifted since. This checklist works through each area systematically.
Five Categories
- Model Readiness — verify gains, time constants, dead times, and cross-couplings against current plant behaviour
- Disturbance Coverage — confirm which disturbances are measured, connected, and represented in the controller design
- Tuning Review — check prediction horizon, control horizon, output weights, and move suppression against current operating economics
- Constraints & Actuators — validate equipment limits, constraint conflicts, and actuator health
- Operations & Support — confirm ownership, operator training, and a review cadence is in place
Also Includes
- Fast diagnosis reference: four symptom-to-cause mappings for rapid triage
- Suitable for initial commissioning, annual health reviews, and pre-retuning audits
